A farmers market at Children’s? You can bet your green onions on it.

Thanks to the efforts of Children’s residents, Children’s Hospital will have its own farmers market starting Tuesday, June 23, from 2  to 7 p.m., and every successive Tuesday afternoon. Look for the booth to be set up on 52nd Street, under the Outpatient Center overhang.

An organic vegetable grower from Salinas, who grows everything from tomatoes and green onions to strawberries and lettuce, will be here with some exceptional fresh produce. The grower is affiliated with the Agriculture and Land-Based Training Association (ALBA), who provides educational and business opportunities for farm workers and aspiring farmers to grow and sell crops grown on organic farms in Monterey County.

This is an opportunity for staff and neighbors and especially our patients, who might not have access to fresh organic produce, to share the healthy harvest. Spread the word.
