Who Should Attend: Early childhood mental health clinicians and professionals who provide relationship-based services for children 0-5
Curriculum: Aligned with the California Training Guidelines and Personnel Competencies for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health Providers.
Trainees who complete the program requirements will be eligible for endorsement under this system.

The Irving B. Harris Early Childhood Mental Health Training Program is an innovative
post-graduate training program. The program provides in-depth training for individuals that are committed to providing a continuum of relationship-based services to infants, young children and their families.
The program has been developed as an applied training program for new and experienced mental health clinicians, along with other practitioners from a variety of disciplines who are working with infants, young children and their families. The curriculum is aligned with the California Training Guidelines and Personnel Competencies for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health Providers. Trainees who complete the program requirements will be eligible for endorsement under this system. |

The Conference
This conference will provide coaches and ahtletic trainers up-to-date information on injury prevention, maximizing sport performance and practical tips for the adolescent athlete. We will focus on updating your knowledge and increasing your comfort with these diagnoses to improve athlete performance. The format combines lectures, case presentations, question/answer sessions, workshops, and extensive opportunities to interact with the speakers for adequate discussion and dialogue.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this conference, the participant should be able to:
• Immediately implement the newest recommendations regarding injury prevention and sports performance for the adolescent athlete
• Recognize and understand the most common injuries that are unique to the young athlete
• Discuss the newest recommendations on concussions in youth sports
• Implement practical tips regarding sports nutrition and sports psychology

Course Description
Close to the beautiful Central California coastline and attractions around the Monterey Bay area, this meeting at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort & Spa will offer a maximum of learning in a relaxing environment. Our faculty includes a nationally known speaker from the University of California San Francisco and specialists from Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland.This program will provide pediatricians, family practitioners,nurses, nurse practitioners, and other allied health professionals up-to-date information on the management of children and adolescents with common neurological and developmental problems in the primary care setting. We will update you on diagnoses to improve patient care. You will learn to determine what truly needs referral and what can be observed or treated in your office. The format combines concise didactic sessions, case presentations, question/answer sessions, workshops and extensive opportunities to interact with the faculty for one-on-one and group discussions.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this symposium, you will be able to:
• Understand the classification of seizures and epilepsy and their importance to management and prognosis
• Describe the fundamentals of the ketogenic diet and its indications
• Manage a patient with migraine headaches in the office
• List at least three different advances in the treatment of patients with refractory epilepsy
• Review the symptomatic presentation of common neurologic conditions
• Know answers to the top 10 questions asked by pediatricians to neurologists
• Learn how to screen a child for a developmental disability during a well child visit
• Become aware of new approaches to the understanding, assessment and treatment of autism
• List the genetic testing options available for the evaluation of a child with global developmental delay
• Learn about new technologies available in the assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders
• Review ADHD in adolescents and young adults
• Manage the treatment of aggression using neurodevelopmental methods with the child
• Understand the safety, use and efficacy of SSRI’s in children
• Know how to use the newborn screen and understand its success in preventing future neurodevelopmental disabilities
