THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY

Families can play an important role in their child’s hospital school experience. Parents can help by:

1. Sending assignments and textbooks with your child when hospitalization is planned. If the admission is unplanned, you can help make a smooth continuation of your child’s education by contacting the school for assignments.

2. Encouraging communication between your child and his/her friends and teachers at the home school. The Pine Family Media Center, a state-of-the-art media and computer lab located in the Hospital School, helps maintain these important relationships.

3. Allowing extra time for your child to complete school assignments during recuperation.
