Sister Bernice Gotelli's Pastoral Care
Sister Bernice Gotelli has served as Children’s Chaplain of Pastoral Services for more than 20 years. She was awarded the Diocesan Medal of Merit by the Diocese of Oakland in 2009.
In 2008, Sister Bernice was recognized at 19th gathering of the Children Hospice International Congress with its Outstanding Service Award. She was also honored in 2008 by Children's Hospital for her 20 years of service to the families and children of our hospital.
Sister Bernice is a sister of The Sisters of the Presentation. She has provided spiritual counseling to all patients and families requesting this care at Children’s, no matter their faith, and has responded to requests for such care 24 hours a day, 6 days a week for all these years. She assists grieving families in whatever ways they need support.
Her calm and compassionate presence is a gift to the hospital’s staff as well, as we scurry about our busy days.
Through the years, Sister Bernice has continued to grow her knowledge and wisdom through in-service courses. She supervises students from the Graduate Theological Union’s pastoral care field program.
Non-denominational pastoral care is available at Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland to all patients and patient families.
